Legislative Affairs
Legislative Affairs
NPGA’s legislative affairs team serves as the association’s primary representation on Capitol Hill, working to advance the propane industry’s policy agenda in Washington, DC. Through meetings and events, the legislative affairs team works to educate members of Congress on the important role the propane industry plays in communities around the country. As a clean and abundant domestic fuel, propane has a great story to tell and NPGA’s legislative staff ensures that key stakeholders are aware of the benefits of propane in all sectors of the economy, from agriculture to transportation.
Propane Days
Propane Days is NPGA’s annual membership visit to Washington, DC. It is the most important federal advocacy event of each year. On an annual basis, NPGA’s membership comes to the Nation’s capital to educate members of Congress on the importance of the domestic propane industry and encourage legislators to support key policies that will benefit the industry and its customers.
Propane Days 365
Propane Days 365 is a program to prepare the NPGA membership not just for Propane Days – NPGA’s annual membership visit to Washington, D.C. – but for advocacy 365 days a year. The goal is to equip members with the information they need and plan opportunities for them to participate in propane site visits with local, state, and federal legislators and regulators.
In the past two years, NPGA members have engaged with more than 200 Congressional offices through visits to Capitol Hill, facility tours, and phone calls, to advocate the importance of the propane to the U.S. economy and environment. These efforts have helped NPGA secure major legislative victories on tax, transportation, and appropriations issues.
As the industry prepares to work with the incoming Biden Administration and 117th Congress, Propane Days 365 will provide NPGA member companies with a consistent messaging and engagement strategy for each propane industry policy priority.
