NPGA recently participated in a panel discussion hosted by the Hearth, Patio and Barbeque Association (HPBA) during their annual Expo in Louisville, Kentucky.
During the panel NPGA, alongside the American Gas Association and Consumer Energy Alliance, provided an update regarding local electrification efforts being pursued at the town, city, and county level. Attendees learned how some municipal governments are pursuing electrification efforts through the adoption of reach codes – which are alternative codes or standards adopted by a municipality that are more aggressive than base code – and the negative impact these local efforts can have on not only the propane industry, but on industries that rely upon our fuel as well.
Many HPBA members utilize propane in the products they sell – from outdoor heating appliances to propane powered grills. For industries that rely on propane as an energy source for their products, advocating at the local level for energy choice and highlighting the clean and efficient applications running on propane is essential for the continued success of our industries.
