Bottom line: The harvest continues to outperform the five-year average. As of November 21, 2022, the Crop Report published by the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) reports 96% of corn has been harvested, which is an increase of 6% from the five-year average. USDA will publish the final crop report to conclude the harvest season next week.
According to the U.S. National Grain Drying Profile, created by the Propane Education & Research Council (PERC), the trend continues to display a normal to drier crop this year. NPGA continues to track environmental factors impacting corn crops and winter weather patterns to navigate informed discussions about supply and harvest. NPGA and PERC encourage propane marketers to continue communicating with customers to plan fills before peak demand season and the conclusion of corn harvest.
