When discussing energy conservation and the reduction of carbon in the atmosphere, it’s important to understand “full fuel cycle,” and its alternative expression, “source energy.” Framing the discussion in these terms will allow propane to compete on a level playing field with other energy sources, including electricity. The current movement towards “electrify everything” has sometimes blinded people and governments to that fact that not all electricity is created equal. To achieve the goal of reducing carbon it is necessary to account for all the carbon that has been released at the point of electrical generation. When this is done, propane will often shine as the cleanest energy option available!
