Appropriations Committees
Annually, Congress considers 12 different bills that provide funding to carry out all government operations through a practice known as the appropriations process. The Constitution dictates this process, which requires that “No money shall be drawn from the Treasury” unless Congress appropriates the funds. The appropriation process ensures every federal agency has the necessary funds to maintain its day-to-day operations.
