Bottom line: the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) passed a resolution last month to urge federal and state governments to evaluate the cost for any changes to codes that are intended to reach “net zero” or “net zero ready” status for buildings.
Concern over the impact on housing affordability and housing production are behind the resolution. The resolution goes further by urging utility services, finance, insurance and related real estate industries to aid in minimizing the cost impact of net zero requirements.
