The Registered Apprenticeship Program (RAP) launched in the spring of 2021. The question we hear the most is “Why should I use the apprenticeship program when I am already doing ‘it’ at my company?” Many companies think they are ‘doing it already’ when they train their employees, but they are not. While there are many reasons why your company should participate in RAP, here are three reasons:
- Companies that offer apprenticeship programs have a competitive advantage in hiring over those that do not. The U.S. Department of Labor (DOL) reports that 93% of individuals that complete an apprenticeship remain with their employer.
- An apprenticeship provides a professional path forward for a new employee, giving them a sense of security and confidence in their future.
- NPGA’s apprenticeship program is registered with DOL and has been vetted by industry experts, adding weight to this important workforce development effort.
Participating in NPGA’s apprenticeship program will help your company recruit, train, and retain new employees. To sign up as an employer sponsor, or to learn more about the apprenticeship programs offered, visit the apprenticeship page on our website, or contact NPGA’s Eric Sears.
