What Role Does the National Association of Regulatory Utility Commissioners Play?

The National Association of Regulatory Utility Commissioners (NARUC) is the national association representing state public service commissions from all 50 states, the District of Columbia, and U.S. territories. NARUC seeks to advance the public interest by improving the quality and effectiveness of utility regulation.  State public service commissions regulate essential services, including in the energy arena, natural gas and electricity. In some states, these service commissions also regulate aspects of the propane industry, such as jurisdictional systems.
