Last week the Technology, Standards and Safety (TS&S) Committee met to continue developing proposals to NFPA 58 and other standards that are adopted into law and used to regulate the propane industry. More than 80 people attended the meeting in Kansas City.
The two-day meeting produced six proposals that will be forwarded for review and comment and five that will be letter balloted for advancement to the NPGA Board. One proposal in particular will be put on the “fast track” to meet an August 15 deadline for submittal to the National Conference on Weights and Measures. That proposal will address the marking for the tare weight of cylinders in the NCWM Handbook 130 and the discrepancy that exists with the requirements of the Department of Transportation.
