Bottom line: Corn developmental stages are consistent with the five-year average and displaying positive progress.
Corn planting is complete in most states. As of the June 27, 2022 the Crop Report published by the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) notes that 4% of corn has entered into the silking stage, which is consistent with the five-year average. The silking stage is the first development stage to measure corn maturity. Development stages are important to monitor to understand the conditions of harvest.
According to the U.S. National Grain Drying Profile, created by the Propane Education & Research Council (PERC), the current trend is a normal to wetter crop this year. NPGA continues to track environmental factors impacting corn crop.
