After the federal legalization of hemp, growth in the hemp industry has spread across the country, increasing propane demand. The propane used in typical crop drying also provides clean fuel for hemp farming, creating an additional market for our membership. The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s (USDA) agency, Agriculture Marketing Service (AMS), is conducting a survey to gather more information on hemp operations, to provide data for AMS to better understand and help create regulations for the industry. NPGA intends to submit comments to AMS to seek clarification on propane usage and concerns.
Please send any questions or new information to Twana Aiken, NPGA Manager of Regulatory Affairs.
