The Transportation Division of the International Association of Sheet Metal, Air, Rail, and Transportation Workers (SMART-TD) rejected the agreement. SMART-TD is the fourth union to reject the deal, with the eight others ratifying it. The railroads and unions agreed to maintain a cooling off period to allow negotiations continue without service disruptions, but this period ends on December 8th. Given the prolonged negotiation stance, the National Propane Gas Association is calling on Congress to use its authority, pursuant to the Rail Labor Act, to prevent a strike.
