USDA Crop Progress Report

The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s (USDA) report for October 23 shows harvested corn at 59% this week, which is exceeding the five-year average by 5% and consistent with the same time last year.

The Propane Education and Research Council (PERC) has a US National Grain Drying Profile that tracks crop moisture by county. Most evaluated areas on the map are trending drier because of various drought conditions, which will result in a mixed moisture crop while harvesting. However, some areas still have average moisture and will need propane to dry crops to optimum conditions. To view the PERC Grain Drying Profile, click here.

NPGA continues to diligently monitor the ongoing progress and various environmental variables that might influence the demand for propane during harvest season. This includes increased yields due to this year’s record-breaking crop planting.  To view the USDA crop report in its entirety, click here.
