Harvest is in full swing throughout the US with most of the crop still trending drier than average. The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s (USDA) report for September 18 shows harvested corn at 9% this week, which is exceeding the five-year average and the same time last year by 2%. Moreover, mature corn has reached 54% progress this week, jumping up 20% points from last week and surpassing the five-year average by 10%. However, the quality of corn in the “good to excellent” category has experienced a marginal decline for the fourth consecutive week of 1%, which is likely because of the extreme temperatures.
NPGA continues to diligently monitor the ongoing progress and various environmental variables that might influence the demand for propane during harvest season. This includes increased yields due to this year’s record-breaking crop planting. To view the USDA crop report in its entirety, click here.
