Harvest is in full swing throughout the US with most of the crop trending drier than average. The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s (USDA) report for September 11 shows harvested corn at 5% this week, which is exceeding the five-year average by 1% and consistent with the same time last year. Moreover, mature corn has reached 34% progress this week, surpassing the five-year average by 6%. However, the quality of corn in the “good to excellent” category has experienced a marginal decline for the third consecutive week of 1%, which sets the progress behind the previous week and year.
The corn crop is drier because of warmer temperatures but NPGA continues to diligently monitor the ongoing progress and various environmental variables that might influence the demand for propane during harvest season. This includes increased yields due to this year’s record-breaking crop planting. To view the USDA crop report in its entirety, click here.
