Bottom line: Corn planting season is behind the five-year average but progressing.
Corn planting is well underway. Planting started in April but has made slow progress due to environmental conditions in many areas. As of the May 9, 2022 the Crop Report published by the U.S. Department of Agriculture, all eighteen states evaluated for the report have corn planted. Furthermore, nine out of the eighteen states have corn emerging. NPGA continues to track environmental factors impacting the corn crop. NPGA and PERC encourage propane marketers to continue communicating with agricultural customers often for the upcoming crop drying season.
