Local Peoples Gas in Ardmore, Alabama, welcomed Congressman Dale Strong for a facility visit in early July. State Representative Andy Whitt also participated in the visit, which provided the opportunity to highlight the vital role propane plays in communities across Alabama’s Fifth Congressional District.
Dickie Ferguson, the facility owner, and his team explained to Congressman Strong how propane powers homes, farms, and businesses and provides reliable, clean energy that supports the local economy. They also discussed how propane moves from production facilities to customers through terminals, transportation, and supply logistics.
Mr. Ferguson highlighted key industry priorities, asking the Congressman to support the Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP), which helps families afford their energy bills. He also thanked the Congressman for co-sponsoring the Energy Choice Act, an important bill that protects customers’ rights to access the energy products of their choosing, regardless of their zip code. Given that Representative Strong is a member of the House Appropriations Committee, Laural Bunn, Alabama Propane Gas Association State Executive, thanked him for his support of NPGA’s three appropriations requests, including money to increase renewable propane production and the deployment of propane power applications at data centers.
Visits like this are a great way to connect with lawmakers and share the value propane brings to our communities. If your company would like to host a facility tour, NPGA is here to help! Reach out to Eric Sears, Senior Manager of State Association Relations, to get started.
