On July 7th, NPGA assembled a coalition including National Energy & Fuels Institute (NEFI), Energy Marketers of America (EMA), American Gas Association (AGA), American Public Gas Association (APGA), Oilheat Manufacturers Association (OMA), and Plumbing-Heating-Cooling Contractors—National Association (PHCC) to comment on the EPA’s proposed sunset of the ENERGY STAR label for residential boilers. The comment focused on EPA’s overstepping their authority, the feedback the EPA received on the proposal, including significant opposition at an EPA-hosted webinar, the value of the label, the importance of fuel choice, the impact on incentives and rebates, and the departure from ENERGY STAR’s core principles.
