NPGA Leads ENERGY STAR Coalition

On June 23, 2023, NPGA assembled a coalition including National Energy & Fuels Institute (NEFI), Energy Marketers of America (EMA), American Gas Association (AGA), American Public Gas Association (APGA), Oilheat Manufacturers Association (OMA), and Plumbing-Heating-Cooling Contractors—National Association (PHCC) to comment on the EPA’s proposed sunset of the ENERGY STAR label for furnaces and central air conditioners.  The comment focused on EPA’s overstepping their authority, the feedback the EPA received on the proposal, questionable or unsupported emissions information, the value of the label, the importance of fuel choice, the impact on incentives and rebates, and the departure from ENERGY STAR’s core principles. NPGA anticipates assembling a similar coalition for an upcoming EPA effort to sunset the ENERGY STAR label for residential boilers.
