NPGA staff attended the National Council on Weights and Measures Interim Meeting in Charleston last week and advanced its initiatives in two key areas. The first regards the discrepancy in the tare weight tolerances between the NCWM requirements and those specified by DOT. With NPGA’s proposal, DOT’s primacy is acknowledged therefore a simple directional reference to the DOT requirements within Handbook 130 is sufficient. Another proposal addresses the implementation timeframe for temperature compensation for smaller dispenser meters. NPGA wishes to extend the end date for complete implementation of this requirement from 2030 to 2036. Chris Wagner of NPGA made an informative presentation to support this extension. NCMW will announce the results of these efforts to modify Handbook 130 at the Annual Meeting of the NCWM in July.
