Three valve manufacturers have expressed the intent to issue a 10–12-year service life recommendation for relief valves integrated within Overfill Prevention Device (OPD) valves on November 1, 2026.
A PERC/NPGA 1-pager summarizing the recommendation and background is here.
Please Note:
The U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) has never prescribed a service life for a relief valve.
Neither NPGA nor PERC has been involved with the development of the manufacturers’ service life recommendation.
Questions? Please contact Chris Wagner (NPGA) or Eric Kuster (PERC).
