At the recent G7 Summit in Apulia, Italy, President Biden and other G7 leaders committed to taking critical action to strengthen the cybersecurity of the global supply chain of key technologies used to manage and operate electricity, oil, and gas systems across the world.
On June 18, 2024, the White House released a statement on DOE’s Supply Chain Cybersecurity Principles. This new guiding document is intended to set forth principles the U.S. Department of Energy will follow to establish cybersecurity expectations for manufacturers of operational technologies and equipment in the energy supply chain sector. Among other things, these principals are focusing on pipeline security. NPGA sits on a joint oil & gas industry – federal government coordinating council that regularly engages with the White House on such matters, including this one, and we will be closely monitoring any proposed action that could directly impact NPGA members.
