Bottom Line: Tell the Senate to take action to prevent rail disruptions. This week, the House of Representatives passed legislation binding the twelve labor unions and Class One Carriers into a collective bargaining agreement based on the tentative agreements brokered in September. Congressional action comes on the heels of extensive advocacy from the National Propane Gas Association, including drafting and signing numerous letters to Congress and the Biden Administration, meeting with senior congressional offices, and developing a propane grassroots engagement strategy. This legislation now goes to the Senate for consideration, but there are concerns that parliamentary procedures may delay the process and negatively impact the industry. As experienced in September, the propane industry will begin seeing the effects of a strike days in advance of the December 9thdeadline. NPGA urges the Senate to act without delay to prevent significant disruptions to the propane industry, its customers, and the broader economy.
