Students across the country are heading back to school and Grain Valley School District in Missouri is using propane school buses to transport many of its children. After purchasing 14 propane school buses in 2018, the district experienced immediate cost savings and positive feedback from staff. The district added nine more propane school buses in the following two years, with an additional four scheduled for delivery this year. District leadership is now committed to operating its entire 50 bus fleet on propane autogas.
A grant from the U.S. Department of Energy helped with the purchase of the buses. The district also received rebates of $2,000 per propane bus from the Missouri Propane Education & Research Council’s propane autogas rebate program.
Bus drivers received training in propane bus operation and the district’s technicians received a week-long training course on maintenance. Learn more about how Grain Valley saved money, eased maintenance, increased reliability, improved air quality, and enhanced the rider and driver experiences with propane school buses.
