On September 16, 2024, Rep. Brett Guthrie (KY-2) visited the Miles LP facility in Owensboro, KY. As a member of the House Energy and Commerce Committee, including the Subcommittee on Energy, Climate, and Grid Security, the Congressman engaged with employees about the role of propane and the vital role it plays in his congressional district. Industry personnel emphasized propane’s versatility and significant footprint in rural areas, citing its reliability, resilience, and environmental benefits. Josh Vanover from Miles LP, pictured above with Congressman Guthrie, highlighted how propane supports various sectors, including agriculture, and is crucial for the success of businesses of all sizes. During the visit, Rep. Guthrie expressed his reservations about the push for total electrification. Vanover also urged the Congressman to co-sponsor the Energy Choice Act and to reauthorize the Diesel Emission Reduction Act (DERA), which aims to replace diesel-powered trucks and generators with alternative fuels, like propane, and is set to expire at the end of the month.
Hosting a facility visit is a valuable opportunity to educate your elected officials about your company’s impact on the community – and NPGA is here to help. If your company is interested in hosting a site visit, please contact NPGA’s Senior Manager of State Association Relations, Eric Sears.
