Dr. Thomas Manuel Ortiz joined NPGA as Director of Codes & Standards on October 24, 2022. Tom is a seasoned petroleum and natural gas liquids engineer, having worked for ExxonMobil Exploration, Halliburton, and Siemens Energy in the private sector. His public sector experience includes work with the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality, Los Alamos National Laboratory, and most recently, as a petroleum engineer with the Texas General Land Office.
Dr. Ortiz holds a Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from Purdue and an MBA from Texas A&M. He also holds 7 patents on applications ranging from natural gas transport network optimization to drilling engineering. Tom is based in Austin, TX and will report to Bruce Swiecicki. His portfolio will include liaising with a host of codes and standards bodies, collaborating with PERC’s R&D team, and supporting TS&S, the Cylinder Exchange Council, and other technical bodies.
