Bottom Line: Louisiana bill signed into law to protect propane.
Louisiana HB898 of the 2022 regular session was signed into law by Governor John Bel Edwards and is now Act No. 512. HB898 was authored by State Representative Phillip DeVillier of District 41 and protects propane from being banned as a fuel of choice for homes and projects in Louisiana municipalities and parishes. In the Senate, Act No. 512 was championed by State Senator Gerald Boudreaux of District 24. Representative DeVillier and Senator Boudreaux have both been awarded 2022 Legislator of the Year by the Louisiana Propane Gas Association for their leadership on this bill. ACT No. 512 is effective on August 1, 2022.
