Bottom Line: Despite policy headwinds, gallons sold per heating degree day are growing.
With all of the pro-electric policies we are all collectively fighting every day, sometimes good news is not at the forefront of our minds—or my mind at least. But I recently reviewed data within the PERC annual retail sales report and ran annual U.S. odorized gallons sold against heating degree days each year to eliminate weather bias as a factor in gallon growth or shrinkage. The graph shows even with eliminating temperature variances from the equation, gallons have been growing. It’s a testament to this amazing fuel and the incredible people who make up this industry.
