On March 2, 2023, Ferrellgas hosted Washington state Congresswoman Cathy McMorris Rogers at its Spokane location. The Congresswoman is the current Chair of the powerful House Committee on Energy and Commerce. Ferrellgas employees Mike Crawford, Todd Glore, John Rohn, Mike Cordova, and Jobie Crosby greeted the Congresswoman and her staff.
Ferrellgas showed the Congresswoman assets used to deliver propane to the community, which included a cylinder truck and a bobtail. The discussion covered how state residents use propane, from BBQ tanks to home heating and school buses and the role propane-powered generators play in alleviating issues with the electric grid and power outages. The Congresswoman and Ferrellgas also had a robust conversation about electrification and the inequities the propane industry has experienced in recently-created federal grant programs, like the Clean School Bus Program.
Overall, the meeting offered an educational experience for the Congresswoman, providing her with an understanding of propane as an energy source and some of the issues facing the industry.
