With Members of Congress out of Washington, D.C. for their summer district work period, numerous NPGA members have used this opportunity to host elected officials at their locations. These visits have allowed association members to educate Members of Congress about propane’s positive impact on the communities they represent.
Brooks Gas hosted Rep. Eric Burlison (R-MO-7) on August 22nd at their Seymour, MO location. The Congressman toured the operations and reaffirmed his support of the propane industry, including consumer choice. The Congressman discussed his personal propane usage in his home and commented on how he enjoys his gas stove and fireplace. While the Congressman is no stranger to the benefits of the industry, his visit provided an important first-hand experience of the value propane brings to his community.
Southern FS hosted a site visit with Rep. Mike Bost (R-IL-12) on August 30th at their Carbondale, IL location. The visit provided an overview of the safety operations at Southern FS and how they serve their customers day-to-day. In addition to the tour, Southern FS spoke about the importance of consumer choice and thanked the Congressman for supporting the recently passed “Save Our Gas Stoves Act” (H.R. 1640) and the “Gas Stove Protection and Freedom Act” (H.R. 1615).
Hosting a site visit at your company is a valuable opportunity to educate your elected officials on your company’s impact on the community – and NPGA is here to help. If your company wants to host a Member of Congress at your propane facility, please contact Eric Sears, NPGA’s Manager of State Association Relations.
