Bottom Line: Host a Congressman or their staff at your propane facility to tell your story and make a connection
In August, AmeriGas hosted Congressman Diaz-Balart (R-FL) at their Medley, FL location, and the Minnesota Propane Association hosted a staff member of Congressman Emmer (R-MN) at their August Board of Directors meeting in Zimmerman, MN.
Carlos Fernandez, Area Manager with AmeriGas in Medley, FL, welcomed Congressman Diaz-Balart and gave him a tour of their operations. Carlos led the discussion on the importance of propane and its role in supporting a diverse and resilient energy sector. Congressman Diaz-Balart was interested in what challenges the industry faces today, such as personnel, driver, and technician shortages.
In Minnesota, Stacy Morse from Congressman Emmer’s office attended with a surprise guest, Andrew Mathews, a Minnesota State Senator. Dave Wager, Minnesota’s State Executive, and members of the Board spoke with Stacy about the resilience and reliability of propane while also giving her a tour of the facility. The group also discussed autogas and demonstrated refueling a vehicle.
NPGA staff will follow up with both Congressional offices to continue the development of these relationships. If your company is interested in hosting a member of Congress, please reach out to Eric Sears, NPGA’s Manager of State Association relations.
