On March 17, 2025, Rep. Thomas Barrett visited the Altogas Propane facility in Charlotte, MI. As a member of the House Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure, the Congressman engaged with employees about propane’s role in transportation and its vital role in his congressional district. Industry personnel emphasized propane’s versatility and significant footprint in rural areas, citing its reliability, resilience, and environmental benefits. Scott Underwood from Altogas highlighted how propane supports various transportation sectors, including fleet vehicles and school buses, and is crucial for the success of businesses of all sizes. During the visit, Rep. Barrett expressed how he enjoys having propane as the fuel for heating his home. Underwood also thanked the Congressman for co-sponsoring the Main Street Certainty Act and asked for his support on legislation that would roll back the 25% tariffs on parts and goods, like steel and aluminum, from Canada and Mexico as the tariffs will lead to price increases for customers and hamper the propane equipment supply chain.
