The propane industry helped meet the challenges of December’s Winter Storm Elliott. NPGA worked tirelessly to secure an emergency declaration by the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) based on communication with marketers and state and regional association executives regarding the storm, which impacted most of the nation. The Emergency Declaration waived the hours-of-service requirements in 47 states, allowing for commercial vehicle operations delivering propane and other heating fuels in response to winter storms and high demand from consumers.
The current waiver expires on January 6. NPGA will continue to monitor the need for hours-of-service waivers throughout the winter storm season.
