Registered Apprenticeship Program

After your driver has completed ACE and has earned their CDL and HAZMAT endorsement, your company may be looking for the next step in training your new employee…

NPGA’s Registered Apprentice Program (RAP) is a no-cost option to provide standardized training in one of these four programs:

                             Propane Service Tech
                             Bobtail Driver
                             Transport Driver
                             Utility (Cylinder) Driver

Taking your current training process and registering with NPGA’s RAP provides peace of mind for your company. Here’s how:

  1. Apprenticeship uses a standardized process.

    • Using the check-off forms and a mentor, the apprenticeship program ensures no missed steps during training.
    • All training is industry-approved and recognized nationally.
  2. The employee receives a nationally recognized credential they can take anywhere.

    • This is a marketing tool your company can use to recruit employees.
    • Companies are looking for employees who want to improve themselves.
    • Department of Labor data emphasizes that over 90% of apprentices stay with their company long term.
  3. Apprentices earn a legally recognized credential for the propane industry standards.

  4. Sponsoring an apprenticeship program promotes your company as a professional organization with a properly credentialed staff.

To get started, the company and the employee must complete required forms. Please email your questions to Eric Sears at [email protected]. For more information, you can also visit NPGA’s Apprenticeship webpage.
