House Energy Subcommittee Continues Hearings on Alternative Fuels and Vehicles

The House Energy and Commerce Subcommittee on Energy and Power continues its hearings on the American Energy Initiative. The Subcommittee held hearings last year on this issue and continued with another hearing on Tuesday this week. The focus of the hearing this week was on alternative fuels and vehicles, both the challenges and the opportunities. The main topic of discussion revolved around the Renewable Fuel Standard, including the current status of the RFS as well as implementation challenges facing producers, blenders, and marketers of renewable fuels. Also discussed were prospects for meeting future conventional and advanced biofuels targets under the RFS. The Subcommittee has scheduled a continuation of the American Energy Initiative themed hearings for July 17, 2012. The focus will be on federal government perspectives regarding alternative fuels and vehicles.
