In response to recent weather and continuing recovery from Hurricane Florence, the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration Southern and Eastern Service Centers declared an emergency. The emergency declaration waives hours-of-service requirements for those providing assistance to the affected states. The states included in the FMCSA Regional Declaration are: North Carolina, South Carolina, and Virginia.
The waiver is effective immediately and until Friday, January 18, 2019. Drivers operating under the terms of the FMCSA Regional Declaration must keep a copy of the declaration in the vehicle.
