In response to Hurricane Florence, the Southern and Eastern Service Centers of the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) declared a state of emergency for Delaware, District of Columbia, Florida, Georgia, Maryland, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Virginia, and West Virginia. In accordance with regulation 49 C.F.R. 390.23, an Hours of Service Waiver is in effect from September 10, 2018 through October 10, 2018, or the duration of the emergency, whichever is less.
