From NPGA President & CEO, Steve Kaminski:
“Freedom is not the absence of commitments, but the ability to choose and to commit ourselves to our goals and values.” – Paulo Coelho
I like this quote because it challenges my thinking around freedom, independence, and the responsibility that comes with being an American. Freedom provides us with the opportunity to make choices—whether they ultimately prove right and wrong. “What is right” no doubt differs from person-to-person depending on one’s convictions, circumstances, aspirations. The historic and tumultuous events of 2020 have influenced and reframed my beliefs on what I know is right to me. What I know is right is in March, the entire propane industry reacted quickly to put worker safety first and maintain a high level of service to customers. What I know is right is advocating for the widespread use of a low-carbon fuel to improve our environment. What I know is right is the ability of the propane industry to work together when there are more questions than answers on critical health, economic, and social issues. And above all, I know it is a privilege to be an American. I do not take that for granted, and I am grateful to those who have sacrificed to allow us to have that privilege.
Have a safe and happy 4th of July.
