For several months now it has appeared that consideration of the extension of various tax credits would not take place in Congress before the end of the year. But yesterday, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV) stated that it was his hope that certain tax credits should be extended this year as part of the payroll tax cut bill now being debated. Sen. Reid noted that Congress typically waits until the end of the year to extend them or, as was the case last year, extend them retroactively at the beginning of the following year. NPGA is strongly supporting the extension of the 50 cent-per-gallon tax credit for propane used in vehicles and forklifts, and also the tax credits for refueling infrastructure and vehicles.
