NPGA Elects Keith McMahan As Chairman
Tri-Gas & Oil  President Assumes Top Leadership Post For National Energy Association

(WASHINGTON, DC) –  The National Propane Gas Association announced that Keith A. McMahan of Federalsburg, Maryland, was sworn in as its new Chairman at NPGA’s summer Board of Directors meeting held June 11-13 in Washington, D.C.

“This is a great honor for me,” McMahan said.  “I look forward to sharing my message, “UNITY – OUR BEST INVESTMENT” as Chairman of the nation’s trade association for the $30 billion American propane industry.  My goal as chairman is to promote the continued level of cooperation and communication between our industry’s organizations so that the whole really does become greater than the sum of the parts.”

McMahan is Chairman of Tri-Gas & Oil Co., Inc., a 44-year old propane and petroleum distributorship with its headquarters in Federalsburg, Maryland.  The company serves retail customers in Maryland and Delaware and wholesale customers throughout the Delmarva Peninsula, as well as Pennsylvania and Virginia.  Tri-Gas employs 150 associates in five locations.

For the last year, McMahan served as NPGA’s Chairman-elect and was the chairman of the association’s Executive Committee. According to NPGA by-laws, the Chairman-Elect is automatically elevated to the top leadership post after serving one year.  He served as the association’s Vice Chairman in 2005 and its Treasurer in 2004.  He has served as NPGA’s District 9 Director, which covers the mid-Atlantic region.

He also serves on the Board of Provident State Bank; the Hospital Foundation Board of Memorial Hospital in Easton, Maryland; the Maryland Motor Truck Association’s Board of Directors; and other industry associations.  A lifelong resident of Caroline County, Maryland, McMahan and his wife of 37 years, Darlene, are the parents of three children and five grandchildren.

The National Propane Gas Association is the national trade association of the propane industry.  NPGA represents approximately 3,500 companies, including producers, wholesalers, transporters, and retailers of propane gas as well as the manufacturers and distributors of associated propane equipment and appliances.  50 million Americans choose propane as their energy source.  For more information about NPGA and the propane gas industry, visit NPGA on the Internet at www.npga.org.
