“Joe was a valuable member of the NPGA leadership team last year,” said Keith McMahan, NPGA’s new chairman.  “His many years in the propane business, plus his leadership of many state association and NPGA committees, is marking him as a rising star at NPGA.  I am looking forward to Joe’s experience helping to guide our association over the next year.”

Cordill has been involved in the national and state propane associations for many years.  He served as NPGA’s Treasurer from June 2006 to June 2007.  He served as NPGA Louisiana State Director from 1993 to 2006.  Cordill has served on NPGA’s Executive Committee and also served as chairman of the Marketers Section and Governmental Affairs Committee.  He has also served on several NPGA task forces addressing specific association issues.

Cordill served as president of the Louisiana Propane Gas Association (LPGA) in 1982 and 1983.  Since then, he has served as chair of several state association committees, presently chairing the Legislative Committee.  He was named “Outstanding Dealer of the Year” by the LPGA in 1981, 1997, 1998, and 2005.

Cordill is president and owner of Cordill Propane Service of Winnsboro, Louisiana.  He took over the family business in 1978.  His father, Charles Cordill, founded the company in 1962.  Prior to his taking ownership, Cordill worked as a consulting engineer for Completion Technology Co. of Houston, Texas based in the west African country of Nigeria.  He oversaw well production analysis, completion design and scheduling for eight oil rigs in the country.  Cordill also worked in the 1970s for Atlantic Richfield Co. as an operations engineer.

Cordill graduated from Louisiana Technical University in 1970 with a B.S. in Chemical Engineering.  He has been married to Naomi Cordill for 39 years and is the father of two sons and grandfather to three boys.  Both of his sons are active in the family business and each manage one of his company’s retail branches.
