May 17, 2007 For additional information contact: NPGA Executive Committee Revises Cabinet Heater Adoption Strategy The NPGA Executive Committee met by teleconference on May 17 and voted to revise the association’s strategy for gaining approval of the use of indoor cabinet heaters within NFPA 58. After considering progress made toward completion of listing standards for cabinet heater appliances and indoor composite cylinders, the committee concluded that additional time was necessary before pursuing final adoption of an edition of NFPA 58 allowing the use of indoor cabinet heaters. The committee also believed that the additional time available under the new strategy would allow NPGA to continue its outreach program, the goal of which it to address concerns expressed by fire service representatives and others. “The foremost mission of NPGA is to promote the safe use of our product,” said NPGA President and CEO Richard Roldan. “Sometimes an added degree of assurance can be achieved with just a little more time.” NPGA remains committed to developing new technologies such as cabinet heaters using composite cylinders that increase the safe use of propane. # # #
