The industry made plans once again to hold Propane Days to continue the successful industry outreach and educational effort for Washington policymakers. 

Propane Days 2009 will be held June 8-10, 2009 in Washington, D.C. at the Hyatt Regency Washington on Capitol Hill.  It will be held in conjunction with the Mid-Year Board of Directors meeting and annual Presidential Forum.

 

The schedule for Propane Days allows a generous amount of time for industry members to meet with their Representatives and/or Senators on the afternoons of Tuesday, June 9th and Wednesday, June 10th. A combined Senate and House Reception will be held on the evening of June 9th.


The keynote speakers this year will be David Plouffe, Campaign Manager of Obama for America and Gen. Peter Pace, USMC (Ret.), former chairman of the Joint Chiefs of StaffInvited guest speakers are TBA.

Propane Days is part of the industry's Capital Action Program (formerly the Capital Awareness Program), a multi-year joint partnership between the National Propane Gas Association and the Propane Education & Research Council to educate Washington, D.C. policymakers about the many benefits of propane and its multiplier effect on the U.S. economy.

Headquarters Hotel
The Hyatt Regency on Capitol Hill is the headquarters hotel the Propane Days 2009.  The Hotel is offering a discounted group rate of $159 single/double occupancy, plus tax for Friday, June 5 and Saturday, June 6.  The discounted group rate for Sunday, June 7 through Thursday, June 11 is $269 single/$294 double occupancy, plus tax.  

Please contact the Hotel at 202-737-1234 and request the NPGA group rate by Friday, May 1, 2009 to receive the discounted rate.

Propane Days Issue Briefs
Congress may face a number of industry issues this year. These NPGA issue briefs will give Propane Days attendees a good background into the most important issues that are being discussed in early June 2009.

Propane Days 2009 Sample Letter Page
State association executives will be able to find on this coming page sample letters to send to marketers inviting them to Propane Days, as well as an invitation letter that can be sent to Congressional offices. Propane Days attendees will also find on this page sample letters that they can use to send on company letterhead to their Representatives and Senators inviting them to the day's events.

Making a Meeting With Your Member of Congress' Office
While in Washington for Propane Days, members can take the opportunity to set up meetings with their elected representatives or their staff to tell them about what propane provides to America and their states. This coming NPGA fact sheet will make it easy for members to schedule meetings with your representatives.
